4 Easy Ways You Can Detox outside your Bathroom

So many people think that detoxing only takes place in the bathroom.  I am going to do a series of ways to show you how to detox outside of the bathroom.  As a detox specialist, this is one of my favorite subjects.  Detoxing is a great way to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.  Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the body, with a focus on the adrenals, kidney, colon and liver.

A detox is different from a cleanse or a fast.  A detox doesn’t limit you to drink most of your meals.  Anyone can lose weight while fasting, the main thing I focus on with my clients is sustained weight loss and/or wellness.  We will talk about cleansing later.  Today I want to share with you 4 EASY ways to detox your body without feeling tired, grumpy, or drained.

Let’s start with your skin, as your body’s first line of defense.  The skin is the largest organ of the body.  The skin helps to regulate body temperature, protects loss of moisture, and produces produce sebum (an oil) to keep hairs free from dust and bacteria.

Dry Skin Brushing.  This is awesome skin care with a bonus…it is reported to help reduces/remove stretch marks and cellulite.  Dry Skin Brushing is awesome because it helps to activate cleansing the lymphatic system to release toxins, aide in digestion and support kidney function.

You can do this every day.  Brush towards the heart. Making long sweeps upward.  Remember not to brush back and forth, scrubbing and circular motions. Start at your feet, moving up the legs on both sides, arm to arm then towards your chest. Brush your armpits as well.  don’t leave out your stomach.  Brush counterclockwise, up and under the breast.  Cover your nipple area and brush your breast.  Don’t brush too hard, go around the neck as well.  Skin should be stimulated and invigorated but not irritated or red.

Type of brush: The bristles should be natural, not synthetic, and preferably vegetable-derived. The bristles themselves should be firm, but not too hard. Handle or no handle is up to you.  I like to use one with a removable handle, however I hardly put it back on.

Benefits of dry skin brushing are awesome.  Not only do you remove dry skin, but you activate the lymphatic system which promotes cell renewal and blood flow.  Let your skin glow.

Oil Pulling.  Oil pulling naturally cleanses the teeth and gums. The basic idea is to cleanse the mouth and gums, which is one of the dirtiest places of the human body.  This is where bacteria can enter through the bloodstream. And as the dentist says, a clean mouth is a healthy body.  Coconut oil is great for your mouth, skin, hair, and cooking.  Research, done by Canadian Science Publishing states that coconut oil supplementation and exercise training is shown to reduce blood pressure.  You can perform your oil pulling, cook with coconut oil and easily add it to a smoothie. Start reaping the benefits today.

coconut oil benefits

  •  Put 1-2 teaspoons of organic coconut oil into the mouth
  • Swish for 5-20 minutes
  • Spit oil into the trashcan (to avoid it hardening and clogging your sink)
  • Rinse well with warm sea salt water to release all the bacteria and toxicity in your mouth
  • Brush your teeth

Epsom Salt Bath – An Epsom salt bath can be a soothing reward to add to your life. This easy form of detox relaxes the body while detoxifying the liver.

Add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt, 1/2 cup of baking soda, and a few drops of lavender essential oil to a warm bath, and soak for 30 minutes.  Often while cleansing, we lose vital minerals.  Epsom salt provides you with the essential mineral, magnesium, which promotes digestion.  Many people are lacking magnesium.

Magnesium is an essential mineral in our bodies that helps to facilitate strong bones,  proper nerve and muscle function.  Magnesium also helps to encourage a steady heart beat which is essential in magnesium’s role in maintaining blood pressure and ensuring blood is supplied to all body organs.

Tongue Scraping – This supports liver detoxification by removing unwanted bacteria from the mouth, thereby supporting digestion. You can buy a tongue brush at here: bit.ly/tonguescrapers
Brush your teeth before you tongue scrape. Then use your tongue scraper or a spoon to reach as far back as possible and pull forward, scraping off the white film, which is candida and streptococcus mutants.
